A registration request is still being processed.
The registry has accepted a create command but has not finished it. It is normal during special launch phases such as sunrise, when names are allocated at the end of the period.

Why it matters
The domain is not yours, and does not resolve, until the create completes.
When you’d see it
During a new TLD's sunrise period, trademark holders apply for names and the registry allocates them at the end, so applications sit in pendingCreate until then.
How it shows up in a lookup
In a gTLD WHOIS lookup it appears as “Domain Status: pendingCreate https://icann.org/epp#pendingCreate”; RDAP shows it as “pending create”. It is managed by the registry as a result of an operation (RFC 5731 §2.3), not a setting you or your registrar toggle directly.
What to do
Wait for the registry. If the TLD is not in a launch phase and you are not the registrant you expect, contact the registrar immediately.
Combination rules
The pending statuses must not be combined with each other (RFC 5731 §2.3).
