Terms of use

The terms, in plain English.

Using peekip means agreeing to these terms. They are short because the service is simple: free checks, free monitors, no card.

What peekip is

peekip shows what public sources say about an internet connection or a domain, explains it, and suggests fixes. Results are estimates and interpretations of public data at the time of the check. IP location in particular is approximate, and a domain report is not a delivery guarantee: content, reputation and recipient behaviour also decide where email lands.

Fair use

  • Use the checks for your own connection and for domains you run or are responsible for, or that you are entitled to check from public records.
  • Don’t use peekip to locate, track, harass or harm other people.
  • Don’t try to overload the service, get around rate limits, or scrape it at volume. The command-line endpoints are for normal personal and scripting use.
  • Don’t upload data you aren’t allowed to share, such as DMARC reports for a domain you don’t administer.

Your account

Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account. The free plan includes monitoring of up to three domains. There is no card on file and nothing renews. We may change or end free features with notice in the app, and you can export your data and delete your account at any time.

Shared reports

When you create a shareable report, you decide what goes in it and who you send the link to. Anyone with the link can open it until it expires. We may remove reports that contain other people’s personal data or are used for abuse.

Monitors and alerts

Monitors check public records on a schedule, and alerts are sent on a best-effort basis. Don’t rely on peekip as your only reminder to renew a certificate or a domain; checks can fail, email can be delayed, and records can change between checks.

Limits

peekip is provided as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, or for decisions made by third parties (such as a streaming service, a mail provider or a geolocation vendor) about your connection or domain. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and we tell account holders about material changes before they apply.
